Give your agent a web that doesn't say no

One MCP integration. Any page, past any protection, returned as clean Markdown or JSON. Your agent stops failing on blocked sites and gets on with the task.

Key takeaway

Datafuel gives AI agents that browse the web one MCP tool: the Unlocker API fetches any page past any protection and returns Markdown or JSON. Failed requests are free, so retries cost nothing.

Why AI agents that browse is hard to do at scale

An AI agent is only as useful as the pages it can reach. When it hits a CAPTCHA, a rate limit or a 403, it doesn't slow down. It fails the task and returns nothing.

That is happening more, not less. In 2026 the largest CDN moved to blocking AI traffic by default, and the share of AI requests receiving 403 responses rose from under 6% to almost 10% in a year. Agentic traffic grew faster than any other category in the same period. The surface being blocked is precisely the one you are building on.

Most teams shipping agents cannot afford to solve this themselves. Proxy rotation, browser fingerprinting, rendering and CAPTCHA handling are full-time engineering problems, and they have nothing to do with what the agent is for.

How Datafuel handles AI agents that browse

The Unlocker API turns web access into a single tool call. Your agent sends a URL. Datafuel picks the right network, renders the page if needed, clears whatever protection is in the way, and returns the content in a format the model can read. Failed requests are free, so an agent that retries costs nothing extra.

Through MCP the integration is one configuration entry. The agent gains a scrape tool that works on the sites its users actually ask about, not just the ones that happen to be open.

How it works

  1. 01Add Datafuel's MCP server to your agent configuration.
  2. 02The agent calls scrape with type unlocker, a URL and an output format.
  3. 03Datafuel returns Markdown or structured JSON; the agent continues its task.

What to watch for

  • Agents can request far more pages than a human would. Set a per-task budget so an exploring agent does not spend without limit.
  • Reading a page and interacting with it are different jobs. If a task needs a login or a form, retrying Unlocker will not help. That is the job of Cloud Browser, which is coming soon.
  • Respect target sites' terms where your use case requires it; Datafuel supports a compliance mode for that.

AI agents that browse — frequently asked questions

Does this work with LangChain, Claude, Cursor or my own framework?
Yes. Anything that speaks MCP can use it; there are also official SDKs for Node.js and Go, with Python coming soon.
What happens when a page is blocked?
Datafuel retries on a fresh IP and solves CAPTCHAs, but never upgrades the proxy tier or turns on rendering by itself: if a page needs rendering, the API says so and the agent resends with js_rendering: true. If it still cannot get the page, the request fails and you are not charged.
Can the agent choose the country the page is fetched from?
Yes. Country, state, city and ASN are parameters on the request.
Is the output safe to pass straight to a model?
Markdown output is stripped of navigation, scripts and boilerplate. JSON output follows a schema you define.
How is it billed?
Per successful request. Cost depends on the network and options used; the playground shows the estimate before you run.
